Mood: Living to kitesurf :-)
27th November 2006
Kite surfing: Camber Sands
Wind Direction: S
Wind Stength: 25-30mph
Surf / Sea State: Small waves/flat lagoon
Air Temperature: 14!!!
Sea Temperature: Warmish
Weather: Rain then sun
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Got to the beach at 0845, not a soul about, rain lashing down, and wind gusting 35mph.

Listened to Terry on the radio for a while, seriously doubting I'd get out. But at about 9 the rain stopped, wind eased to about 25, so I went for it.

I had to self-launch the kite which I was really nervous about given the strong wind. I tied a ratchet strap to a groyne, and attached the chicken loop to that. Worked a treat with no problems. These Sonic kites rock!

As I walked to the sea I was pleased to see another kiter arrive so I wouldn't be on my own.

Ended up having a TERRIFIC session. Once I got into it I managed one-handed riding, staying upwind, and even a couple of slide turns.

The sun broke through and glinted off the waves, I was powered up, comfortable, fast, and slicing through them. Just superb!

Had to end it all earlier than I'd have liked to get to work, but have been walking on air all day as a result.
